Major Power Outage Affects Tens of Thousands in Haarlem

Residents of Haarlem, Spaarndam, and the surrounding area were left without power for several hours last night due to a major power failure.

Network operator Liander reported that between 30,000 and 40,000 people in 41 streets were affected by the outage, which started around 11 P.M. and lasted until 4 A.M.

The cause of the power failure is currently unknown, and it was initially reported that a fire may have started in a high-voltage substation.

However, network manager TenneT still needs to confirm this.

The fire brigade did respond to the incident, but this was due to smoke caused by TenneT’s intervention after the failure.

How the power outage affected daily life in the affected areas needs to be clarified.
