Circus Acrobat Seriously Hurt in Fall from Wheel of Death at Haarlem Christmas Circus

Haarlem, Netherlands – A circus performer was seriously injured on Wednesday evening after falling up to 15 meters while performing a stunt at the Reinaldapark in Haarlem

The accident occurred during the Wheel of Death act as part of the Christmas Circus

The performer, who has not been named, suffered several rib fractures and is being examined for internal injuries and other fractures.

However, he is reportedly in great pain and is no longer in life-threatening danger.

According to circus director René Duursma, a performer is a man who has been with the circus for approximately ten years.

Illusionist Hans Klok, who was set to perform with the circus, said that the performer fell roughly 15 meters to the ground.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 8:45 P.M. A trauma team was sent by helicopter, followed by a firefighter crew.

Unfortunately, many people, including children, were in the audience at the time of the incident, and victim support services are being arranged to help them cope with the “nasty event” they witnessed.

The circus has stated that upcoming shows will continue as planned.

The circus has been operating for approximately 30 years and will produce two or three shows daily until the end of the season on January 8, 2023.
